Night Train to Poland

Only a week to go! On 29 November a group of us from Tearfund are taking the night train to Poland. Aside from enjoying the delights of sauerkraut and sausages, we’ll be badgering politicians to work towards a climate change deal as strong as Polish vodka.

The destination in Poznan, a small town in the West of the country where the world will descend for a fortnight. Countries will be scrambling to negotiate a deal to follow on from emissions targets under the Kyoto Protocol which end in 2012. Last year the negotiations started in Bali- and a deal needs to be finalised by 2009, leaving only a few years for it to be ratified by countries. Since the Kyoto Protocol took 8 years to ratify, we're working to an urgent deadline!

So 15 of us will be bunked up in a massive house with no kitchen, braving a brisk Polish winter, and doing our best to make sure the needs of the world’s poor are represented in the deal. Our policy wonks, specialists, campaigners and field workers from Bangladesh to Zambia will be giving you their take on it all here.

If you want to see what we get up to in Poznan subscribe to this blog so we can give you the latest updates on what it all means for the poor, as well as actions you can take and prayer requests.

Check out the video to meet some of the people who are headed to Poland, as well as Badger, our furry activist friend who we're taking along to do some lobbying himself. You don't want to miss it...
